Tobacco Health Warnings: Evidence of Effectiveness (2020)

In March 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) finalized a rule requiring 11 new cigarette health warnings. By June 18, 2021, these warnings, which include new text and color graphics, will be required to cover 50 percent of the front and rear panels of cigarette packs and at least 20 percent of the area at the top of cigarette advertisements in the U.S.
